Band from Israel performs at the SALAM ORIENT Festival 2018:
The Yamma Ensemble around the charismatic singer Talya G.A Solan is one of Israel's most important ensembles of contemporary Hebrew music. The sensitive songs are rooted in Hebrew-biblical poetry and other ancient Jewish sources. The musicians remain faithful to the traditions of their origins and present their songs on old instruments typical of the Middle East such as Kopuz, Riq, Oud and Handtrommel. The ensemble's performance on Psalms 104, the biblical Jewish song, is the most watched video of a contemporary, active music group on Youtube. This unique art expands the Yamma Ensemble with the musical traditions of various Jewish Diasporas from Yemen or ancient Babylon as well as Sephardic and Hasidic music with the intriguing rhythms preserved by generations of Jewish tradition.
