9th November 1938 changed their lives forever, when after Kristallnacht they became persona non grata, unwelcome in their home town. Eighty one years later their names will be inscribed in the streets of Vienna for all time. These stones “Stolpersteine” will be located in front of the apartment in which they lived and will be a permanent memorial to yet another four victims of Nazi atrocities. These humble people will be honoured in perpetuity, something which makes us, as their children and grandchildren feel very proud. We hope our grandparents and parents will look down with a sense of pride and satisfaction.
This was a normal family who had to grow up and try to survive in the most awful and tragic of circumstances. Their story like many, showed their incredible resilience, fortitude and strength of spirit. We would be honoured if you could join us in this tribute which will be an everlasting memory to our grandparents who in desperation sent their children on a train to safety, thereby ensuring the family would live on. Also to those two children who had to raise themselves, making new lives in the UK and the USA.
The Bibring, Freimark, Konecky, Grossman, Banks, Bloom and Cohan families are a wonderful legacy and proof that good always triumphs over evil.
Location: Mariahilferstraße 105, 1010 Vienna
