On January 27, Bibel TV commemorates the Holocaust with last year's concert reading from Hanover (Photo)
On January 27, 1945 the Auschwitz extermination camp was liberated, in which over 1.1 million people of Jewish faith were murdered by the German Nazi regime. To mark this occasion, on Wednesday, January 27, from 8:15 p.m. to 10:20 p.m., Bibel TV will be showing the Holocaust memorial concert, which was staged as a German premiere last year in the domed hall of the Hanover Congress Center in front of more than 3,500 visitors.

“The 'Night' Holocaust Project” stands for tolerance, memory and solidarity, but also for the lively preservation of Jewish life and Jewish culture. The concert reading combines the liturgical synagogal music of the Jewish cantor Leib Glantz (1896 - 1964) with excerpts from the autobiographical book "Die Nacht" by the publicist and 1986 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel (1928 - 2016). In it, Wiesel describes the tortures he experienced as a youth in the Auschwitz extermination camp and in the Buchenwald concentration camp. Between the compositions, actor Sebastian Koch recites passages from Wiesel's book, which reminds us of the horrors of Nazi rule.

The political scientist Dr. Jerry Glantz, son of Leib Glantz and initiator of the project, wants to set an example against hatred and genocide and for peace and international understanding. This can also be seen in the cast of international artists such as Maestro Joseph Ness (composer, Hartford), Maestro Arkadi Feldman (conductor, Kaliningrad) Daniel Mutlu (tenor, New York), Helena Goldt (soprano, Berlin) and the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra, the Vilnius State Choir, the North German Synagogue Choir, etc. Bibel TV will broadcast this concert both on TV and on the Internet at www.bibeltv.de.

“The 'Night‘ Concert Project ”is an international concert series and is performed by renowned orchestras, choirs, soloists and actors from each country in concert halls, theaters and churches around the world. The music texts are sung in Hebrew. At the same time as the concert reading, the texts in different languages and images will be projected onto a large screen.

"With this special concert under the maxim" Stand up against hatred ", Bibel TV, as a Christian media company in the spirit of the initiators, would like to contribute to reconciliation between peoples and religions", says Beate Busch, Executive Vice President and authorized signatory of Bibel TV. "It is just as important to us to let our viewers participate in this impressive cultural experience".
