On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Vienna City Temple, the traditional Viennese glass manufacturer J. & L. Lobmeyr, in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Vienna (Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien), has developed a beautiful Vienna City Temple cup.
The numbered special edition is based on a cup that was already produced for the Rothschild family in the 19th century. The presented version incorporates elements of the City Temple: six-pointed stars adorn 18 columns and 7 rows—a symbol of life and Shabbat. The golden rim refers to the softly shimmering gold ornamentation of the temple.
The cup was presented on October 9 in the historic rooms of the Viennese traditional house J. & L. Lobmeyr on Kärntnerstraße. President Oskar Deutsch thanked everyone for the wonderful collaboration, and numerous guests secured the first editions of the special series.
The Vienna City Temple cup is now available at J. & L. Lobmeyr, Kärntnerstraße 26, 1010 Vienna, for 360 euros. By purchasing, you also directly support the restoration of the Vienna City Temple: 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the synagogue.
