The new novel by the young Israeli writer Nir Baram is extremely topical. The American consultancy company MSV handles election campaigns all over the world, supposedly in the name of democracy and justice. In reality, it’s all about intrigue and scandal and corrupt investors for whom nothing is sacred. One of the high-ranking campaigners has had enough. Daniel Cay contacts a group of young anarchists who will do anything in their fight against globalization and capitalism. They ultimately call for a gigantic worldwide strike. With a masterly eye for the global context, Baram, the “best young writer from Israel” (NRC), pokes at the open sores in a system dominated by lust for money and power.

Nir Baram, born in Jerusalem in 1976, is a writer, journalist, and editor. He campaigns for equal treatment for Palestinians and for peace in Israel. His novel Good People won the Prime Minister Award for Hebrew Literature in 2010. He lives in Tel Aviv.

The discussion, in English, will be moderated by Doron Rabinovici.
