Religion class in public schools

The Jewish Community offers religion education classes in the afternoon to all Jewish pupils.

For primary-school pupils (also those at VIS, AIS), religion education is held in the Zwi Perez Chajes School, Simon-Wiesenthal-Gasse 1, 1020 Vienna.

For the pupils at AHS and all other high schools (including VIS, AIS), religious education takes place in the Jewish Community at Seitenstettengasse 4, 1010 Vienna.

For pupils of the Lycee Francais, the religious education takes place in the Lycee.

For the upcoming school year, we are planning additional courses for students who for personal reasons cannot participate in the previously mentioned religious education.

At the beginning of each school year, the class schedules are announced in the Gemeinde publication.

For questions, please contact the Rabbinate, Tel: 531 04 111, or the religion instructor.

According to the Austrian school laws, all children in public schools registered at the Jewish Community are automatically registered for Jewish religious instruction. If you do not want your child participating in religious education, you must provide written notice during the first seven school days at your school.
